Carrillo Swings Zeniths to 9-4 Win
|
Duluth and Grand Marais took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Duluth Zeniths downed the Grand Marais Voyageurs, 9-4, at Ballpark by the Marsh. The Zeniths were led by Martín Carrillo. Carrillo went 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Silvio Ramírez was the winner. He's now 2-0. The loser was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Marcos Gerena.
With Duluth leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Carrillo batted against Grand Marais pitcher Marcos Gerena. Carrillo hit a changeup to left-center for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Zeniths on top, 3-0.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Carrillo said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
With the win, Duluth elevates its record to 8-4.
