Late Rally Earns Grand Marais 8-5 Win
Soggy conditions did not keep Grand Marais and Superior from playing their scheduled game.

Though he had a stellar game, Menendo Pérez could not prevent his team, the Superior Whalebacks, from losing, 8-5, to the Grand Marais Voyageurs. Pérez went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. Grand Marais starter Marcos Gerena was credited with the win after throwing 130 pitches over 9 innings. His record now stands at 10-8.

With runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, third baseman Bob Tennant delivered big for the Voyageurs. Grand Marais was trailing 5-2 when he belted a 3-run home run.

"We're happy, our fans are happy," Tennant told a Grand Marais Chronicle reporter. "I hope you folks in the media are happy, too."

The Voyageurs are now 43-28.
