Zeniths Suffer 4-3 Loss to Smelters
|
The Marquette Smelters topped the Duluth Zeniths, 4-3, in Western Great Lakes Association action at Peak Performance Park. The standout performance belonged to Marquette pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Sabino Flores. In 8 innings, Flores surrendered 11 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. With the win, Marquette goes to 54-26, while the Zeniths fall to 42-38.
In the top of the fifth, with Marquette leading 3-0, Aimar Paniagua hit a slider from Silvio Ramírez for a run-scoring single, giving the Smelters the lead, 4-0.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Flores.
