Martínez Lifts Voyageurs to 8-3 Win
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Grand Marais Voyageurs and Sault St. Marie Rapids came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Grand Marais Voyageurs defeated the Sault St. Marie Rapids, 8-3, at Ballpark by the Marsh. Grand Marais catcher Alejo Martínez had a superb performance. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Grand Marais pitcher Leonardo Bonilla got the win, upping his record to 12-7. Telamón Torres got the loss.

In the bottom of the sixth, Grand Marais shortstop Luis Fernández whacked a curveball to left-center for a run-scoring double. His 23rd double of the season put the Voyageurs in front, 4-3.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Martínez.

The Voyageurs, at 52-36, sit in second place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Superior.
