Saginaw Takes Interleague Series Game 1, Olave Stars
The Saginaw Joes started the Interleague Series in style, downing the visiting Grand Marais Voyageurs at Old Growth Forest by a score of 10-7 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Joes left-hander Pedro Olave went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3.

Had Luis Díaz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Díaz hit a bases-clearing double. That made the score 10-7, in favor of the Joes.

"Pedro mixed and matched," said Saginaw manager Miguel Chagoya.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Old Growth Forest in Saginaw.
