Galway Tacks 4-3 Loss on Limerick
|
The Galway Harbourmasters topped the Limerick Gandelows, 4-3, in Baseball Federation of Scotland & Ireland action at Harbourmasters Field. The standout performance belonged to Galway pitcher and Corozal, Puerto Rico, native Timoteo Ortega. Ortega, who is tied for 8th in the BFS&I in strikeouts with 130, went the distance for Galway. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. Galway is now 51-23, Limerick 31-43.
The Harbourmasters got a big at-bat from first baseman Ernesto Gómez. For the game, Gómez was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Galway a 2-1 lead.
"Timoteo was outstanding," said Galway manager Natalino Torres.
