Smelters Move on to Pennant Series Sunday, September 28th , 1913 In an exciting Interleague Series that had its fair share of drama and intrigue, perhaps it is League of the Great Lakes fans who have come out the winner. But on the field, the winners were the Marquette Smelters, who edged the Sheboygan Brats 3-2 to advance to the Pennant Series. Marquette won the final game by a 2-1 count to wrap up the series. M. Izquierdo earned series MVP honors, by hitting .333 with a .364 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 3 runs. The Marquette Smelters will play against the Saginaw Joes in the next round. Saginaw won their series against the Grand Marais Voyageurs 3 games to 0.
