The Superior Whalebacks soundly defeated the Grand Marais Voyageurs, 11-3, at Ballpark by the Marsh. Gil Banks let his bat do the talking. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 4 times for Superior. Juan Rivera was the winner. He's now 5-16. The loser was Marcos Gerena. Juan Carlos Monroy picked up his 3rd save of the season.

Clemente Salinas had a big run-scoring double for the Whalebacks in the top of the third inning. With Superior leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Marcos Gerena and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 35th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whalebacks ahead, 2-0.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Banks. "And not try to do too much."

Superior is now 48-70, Grand Marais 67-51.
